Abstract

The importance of Se for plants has not been fully investigated. However, in experiments with soil and water cultures the established influence of Se on the growth of soy beans, mustard, millet1 and some other species2,6 has been shown. Plant reaction on the presence of Se in growth media depends on the species character4, that changes the metabolic activity. The processes of absorption and accumulation of Se and other elements are determined by complex biological and biochemical factors3,4. Many factors influence Se uptake by plants: the ratio of different forms of Se, interaction of macro and microelements, the content of Ca and Ba, P and S6. The aim of the present investigation is to study effects of nutrition level and Se on ion intake.
