Abstract

The effects of salt concentration, temperature, and additives on the phase behavior and HLB temperature of a brine/Aerosol OT/C10H22 system have been studied. The most important factor which affects the solvent property of a surfactant solution is its hydrophile-lipophile balance (HLB) in solution. Information obtained may be useful to design organized surfactant solutions as biomimetic solvents.
