Abstract

To study the flow field characteristics inside the rotating oil passage of a helicopter with variable speed transmission system, a rotating oil passage model consisting of a single inlet and multiple branch outlets is established, and computation fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation is performed. The influences of rotating speed and oil supply pressure on the distribution of lubricating oil, the flow rate of oil, and the distribution of velocity for the inlet and outlets are discussed. A test rig for studying the lubrication performance of a rotating oil passage is established, with which the oil flow rates of outlets under different conditions were obtained, and the effectiveness of the present simulation approach is validated.
