Abstract

Compared to studies that focus on the problems left over from reservoir emigration, indigenous migration issues have received less public attention, although their stakeholder interests deserve to get more attention and consideration. In the present paper, the difference-in-differences analysis is applied to test the influence of reservoir construction and operation practice on the household income of indigenous people. Also, Anhui Ningguo city Gangkouwan Reservoir project is used as an example for empirical analysis. The results show that the reservoir project has reduced the household income of indigenous people with their revenue structure altered. Therefore, from the perspectives of promoting a harmonious development of reservoir projects and local communities, economic compensation and social security for the indigenous people affected by reservoir projects deserve much more attention.
