Abstract

Amorphous ribbons with composition Fe 73.5Cu 1Nb 3Si 13.5B 9 were produced by planar flow casting using different values of the wheel velocity, within the range 20–32 m/s. In order to understand the effect of the quenching rate on the subsequent degree of nanocrystallization, a detailed characterisation of as-cast and annealed ribbons at 500 and 540°C has been performed using Mossbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.
