Abstract
The consistent Q formalism in the sd IBM is extended to that in the spdf IBM. With the extended formalism, the effect of the quadrupole and octupole deformations on the low-lying energy levels is discussed. As an application, the low-lying energy spectra and some electromagnetic transition rates of 144Ba and 146Ba are calculated. A good agreement with experimental data is obtained.
