Abstract

Objectives: Endometrial cancer is the most common gynecologic malignancy in women. Majority of these cancers are endometrioid in histology and initially present as complex atypical hyperplasia. This premalignant condition has been traditionally treated with hysterectomy unless they are poor surgical candidates or desire childbearing, in which case progesterone treatment is used as an alternative. The use of medroxyprogesterone acetate in endometrioid uterine cancer has been shown to reduce the amount of hormone receptors in the endometrium as has been previously shown in GOG 211.
