Abstract

The surfaces of porous NiTi shape memory alloys (SMAs) with different pore characteristics were modified by combined treatment of passivation and oxygen plasma immersion ion implantation methods. It has been found that the pore characteristics play an important role in improving Ni suppression performance. It is helpful to have large pore size and high pore interconnectivity for enhancing the Ni suppression performance of modified porous NiTi SMAs.
