Abstract

Batik Cual is one of the archipelago’s traditions in Bangka Belitung Province. As the production of cual batik cloth increases, it is accompanied by an increase in production waste of liquid waste. Cual batik waste contains remasol dye which is carcinogenic. Therefore, proper and safe waste management for the surrounding environment is needed. Electrocoagulation is a method without chemicals in the coagulation process and is able to reduce turbidity and color parameters. The various types of plates (aluminium, copper, and zinc) used in the electrocoagulation process aim to determine the level of improvement in the quality of cual batik wastewater before and after the electrocoagulation process. The test results show that the level of improvement in waste quality for the level of turbidity, color, and pH occurs in copper type plates.
