Abstract

ObjectivesThe aim of this study is to determine the effect of the training given to the patient by the radiology nurse before the liver biopsy on the level of anxiety and pain. MethodsIn the quasi-experimental study, 67 patients were educated after the prebiopsy anxiety level was evaluated. The level of anxiety after the training and the level of pain felt during the procedure were re-evaluated. ResultsThere was a significant difference between the state and trait anxiety mean scores of the patients before and after the education (p < .01). It was observed that the pain felt during the procedure was mild. ConclusionThe training given by the radiology nurse before the liver biopsy is effective in reducing anxiety and pain levels.
