The Effect of Parkinson's Disease on the Speech Production of a Saudi Patient When Using His Second Language

Abstract

This study focuses on the second language production difficulties of a Saudi PD patient. From a recorded conversational speech sample, voice, sentence structure, choice of words, and other language features were assessed. The main objective of the study is to understand the actual language deficits of a Saudi PD patient when speaking his second language, English. The result of the study shows that speech production in the PD patients is moderately impaired.
