Abstract
1. 1. Para-chlorophenylalanine (p-CPA) was found to cause a significant decrease in body temperature 6–8 days following injection. 2. 2. The animals compensate for the decrease in body temperature by increasing the time spent in the hot end of a thermal shuttle box. 3. 3. The effect of p-CPA appears to be centrally mediated, although the direct effect of peripheral vasodialation may play a role in reducing the body temperature.
