Abstract

The effect of foreign oxide additions on the electrical conductivity of L-Ta 2O 5 is discussed. It is concluded that lower valent oxides have no doping effect (i.e. increased and extended ionic conductivity by substitutional dissolution of lower valent cations) on L-Ta 2O 5. The conductivity data have been interpreted in terms of different dispersion models reflecting conduction in a mixture of L-Ta 2O 5 and tantalate phases.
