Abstract

Objective: The clinical benefit of normovolemic modified ultrafiltration (N-MUF) after cardiac surgery is still debated. As we could show a significant improvement of platelet function, we were interested whether ultrafiltration is able to reduce plasma levels of endotoxines, terminal complement complex and cytocines after cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in adults with increased risk profile.
