Abstract
This letter reports the effect of the presence of NO and NO 2 on the N 2O decomposition activity of Fe-MFI catalysts. In contrast to earlier studies it was shown that even traces of NO x are sufficient to cause a significant increase of the N 2O conversion. NO and NO 2 act as “co-catalysts” during N 2O decomposition by facilitating the desorption of strongly adsorbed atomic oxygen.
