Abstract

The extensive research work is concentrated on the development on the nanofluids for transformer insulation. Various type of nanofluids, viz. mineral oil, synthetic esters and vegetable oil based nanofluids are being developed and reported. These nanofluids are exhibited to show improvement in the critical parameters. In this paper, nanofluids were prepared by mixing two type of nanoceramics such as CaCu 3 Ti 4 O 12 (CCTO) and Ba 0.85 Ca 0.15 Zr 0.1 Ti 0.9 O 3 (BCZT) in synthetic ester. These nanoceramics with various weight percent (0.001 to 0.005 wt %) in synthetic esters were prepared under ultrasonication. These nano fluids were characterized for tan delta, resistivity, dielectric constant, AC breakdown voltage (BDV), flash point, and acidity. The nanofluids thus prepared were exhibited improved critical parameters. As the weight percent of nano particles increased in the base oil, the AC breakdown voltage (BDV) had increased. The nanofluids exhibited improved critical parameters as compared to that of base oil.
