Abstract

Leadership competencies have often been explored in project management literature but limited research has been conducted on impact of managerial competencies of project leadership on the success of Public sector projects. This study aims to investigate the effect of managerial level leadership competencies of project managers on the success of Public sector projects. This study used cross-sectional design and adopted a survey instrument to collect primary data from 160 project managers/project directors of projects, implemented in Public sector of Pakistan. In addition to reliability and validity analyses, correlation and regression analyses were performed to test research hypotheses of this study. Findings reveal significant impact of resource management, empowering, teamwork, and motivation on the success of projects, however, insignificant relationship was found between communication and success of IT and telecommunication projects in Public sector of Pakistan. Findings suggest several implications for practitioners and future directions for researchers.
