Abstract

Abstract The effect of applying an external magnetic field on the catalytic oxidation of indigo dyes with H2O2/imidazole was investigated. It was found that the rate of oxidation, in the presence of imidazole as a catalyst, was enhanced by applying an external magnetic field in the range of 0.035–0.12 T. The magnetic field did not affect the reaction in the absence of imidazole. A mechanism that involves radical intermediates is proposed.
