Abstract

Excellent osteo conductivity of hydroxyapatite is well known, many artificial joints and dental implants coated with hydroxyapatite on the surface was used widely in clinical field. We have already showed that the ultrasound wave stimulation could accelerate the hydroxyapatite precipitation on the bioactive titanium surface. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether a similar effect in vitro. Hydroxyapatite (99.9%) soaked in simulated body fluid under the ultrasound wave radiation, and accessed by scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction, the mass of precipitation was measured. The soking time were 3day, 1week, 2weeks, and the ultrasound wave irradiation distance 5cm, and the irradiation time 20min/day. In result, hydroxyapatite soaked in simulated body fluid showed the more rich hydroxy lapatite precipitation on the surface in ultrasound wave radiation. These facts suggested that ultrasound wave promoted the osteo conductivity of hydroxyapatite as the bioactive titanium.
