Aim of the study: To see to what extent biostimulation with Low power Laser induces modifications in hepatocyte permeability in humans. Materials and methods: 100 patients aged 30–75 years old, 45 with Scapulohumeral periarthritis (SHP), and 55 with bilateral gonarthrosis, admited in Rehabilitation Clinique have been divided into two groups of 50 patients each: group A (control) with drug and physiokinetic therapy only, and group B with the same treatment plus biostimulation with Low power Laser GaA/As(1-6J/cm2). Modification of hepatocyte permeability has been recorded, by determining differences in haemathologic concentrations of L-aspartateaminotranspherase (AST) and L-alanylaminotranspherase (ALT) on the first and 12th day of treatment. Results: In group A there was an increase in AST values, which accounts for an increase in hepatocytolysis on the 12th day (in comparison with 1st day the mean difference was +0.7 (p<0.09). In group B there was a respective reduction in hepatocytolysis, with a reduction in AST values on the 12th day (in comparison with 1st day of treatment, the mean difference was -5.3u/l (p<0.002), accounting for a protective effect of Laser biostimulation with reduction of hepatocytolysis and hepatocyte permeability. Comparing the values of ALT in the two groups, there was a net statisticaly significant difference between mean values from the 12th day comparing to those of the 1st day, of -5.9u/l (p<0.001). These aspects underline that drug and physiokinetic therapies do not influence significantly hepatocyte permeability. Association of biostimulation with GaA/As Laser in those patients reduces significantly hepatocyte permeability on the 12th day of treatment. By this effect we can suggest the protective effect of biostimulation with low power Laser upon hepatocyte permeability and upon hepatocytolysis. In group B De Rits coeficient varied from 1.2 on the first day of treatment to 1.37 on the 12th day. Conclusions: Low power Ga A/As Laser biostimulation leads to a decrease in AST and ALT levels, reducing hepatocyte permeability and hepatocytolysis, with increasing De Rits index.
