Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of low dose-X ray radiation (LDI) on angiogenesis of ischemic limb in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. Methods The limb ischemia was set with high ligation of femoral artery in the inguinal region in rats and treated with low dose radiation. To evaluate and research the ischemic limbs by limb function scoring, lower limb angiography, HE staining and mean vessel density assay (MVD). Results 28 d after surgery, the function scores, lower limb angiography density and MVD value of the ischemic limbs treat with LDI was 0.65±0.46, 0.74±0.05 and 525.00±17.80, respectively, and significantly higher than the ones without LDI treatment (P=0.004). Conclusion LDI promoted the angiogenesis of ischemic limb in SD rats. Key words: Low dose irradiation; Angiogenesis; Ischemic limb
