Abstract

Chronic experiments on dogs with formation of arteriovenous fistulae support clinical observations on the complex changes in the heart which take place in congenital and traumatic arteriovenous aneurysms. Endarteritis appears at the site of the anastomosis. Certain conditions are created favoring the development of septic endocarditis even without the inoculation of bacteria. Associated bacteremia (Streptococcusviridans) permits the assumption that the septic process is autoinfective.
