Abstract
Objective To discuss the effect of 2% Lidocaine solution for injection on topical anesthesia for laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK). Methods Totally 100 cases (200 eyes) were randomly divided into two groups,2% Lidocaine group and Oxybuprocaine group. Each group contained 50 cases ( 100eyes). LASIK was done under the topical anesthesia of those two medicine respectively. The anesthetic effect was assessed by the feeling of pain and tactile perception of the patients. Results The surgery was done smoothly in 98 eyes under Lidocaine anesthesia. There was mild pain in two eyes during the surgery. The pain disappeared when an additional drop of Lidocaine was used. In Oxybuprocaine group, the surgery was done smoothly in 99 eyes. There was mild discomfort in one eye, and the surgery was done without additional treatment. Conclusion 2% Lidocaine injection can provide good topical anesthetic effect for LASIK. Key words: 2% Lidocaine; topical anesthesia ; laser in situ keratomileusis
