Abstract

The article discusses the technology of laser processing of VT6 titanium alloy as a technological operation to improve properties and structure. A promising direction for reducing roughness during laser hardening with reflow can be the development of a process using additives that reduce the surface tension of the melt and increase the wettability of the surface. It was revealed that phase hardening and martensitic transformation β → α are the causes of hardening of titanium during laser processing. This is confirmed by a change in the width of the x-ray lines. It was found that during laser processing with a speed of 3.7 mm/s and higher, a fine-grained structure is achieved. The results show that, at a sufficiently high cooling rate of the substrate, the grain sizes remain practically unchanged.
