Abstract

Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare the effect of knee joint kinesiotype on some indicators of physical fitness (speed, agility and vertical jump) and performance (dribbling) in young footballers with normal of knee alignment and genu varum. Method:The participants of the present study were 37 young football players in the Youth League of the country who were purposefully selected and divided into two groups; genu varum group of 19 subjects; (mean age 18.32, mean height 177. 42 cm and body mass 66.16 kg) and normal alignment group of 18 subjects (mean age 17.64 yrs, mean height 178.53 cm and body mass were 68.47 kg). The evaluated indicators included physical fitness factors of speed, agility and vertical jump and dribbling performance index. Result: The result shows that, there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test of the normal alignment group in the speed (p=0.001), agility (p=0.021) and vertical jump (p=0.011) and there was also a significant difference in the genu varum group in speed (p=0.003), agility (p=0.01) and vertical jump (p=0.03). While the kinesiotype intervention in variable of dribbling did not show a significant difference between pre-test and post-test in the normal alignment group (p = 0.12) and the genu varum group (p = 0.882). Also, no significant difference was observed in the variables of speed (p = 0.53), agility (p = 0.27), vertical jump (p = 0.11) and dribble (p = 0.14) between the normal alignment and genu varum groups. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, it can be stated that knee kinesiotype can improve physical fitness (speed, agility and vertical jump) indices in young football players with normal alignment and genu varum groups But did not improve their performance (dribbling). Finally, knee alignment is not effective in performance variables (technical skills) in young footballers.
