Abstract

Summary The object of study was the effect of kinetin (10−5 M) on the nucleolar cycle in the meristematic cells of the roots in Lupinus luteus L. Kinetin was found to delay the process of nucleolar dispersion causing the nucleolus to persist in postprophase (persistent nucleolus) and a considerable prolongation of the phase of nucleolar reorganization. This was associated with an increase in the number of argyrophilous cytoplasmic bodies and with a considerable decrease in the rate of their disappearance during telophase.
