Abstract

While various studies have theorized or empirically demonstrated positive career outcomes from employability, their results are inconclusive. To address this concern, we incorporate the construct of job embeddedness to explain how perceptions of employability affect employee engagement, perceptions of career success, and psychological mobility. We find that job embeddedness mediates the relationship between internal employability and career success as well as employee engagement. In addition, we find that job embeddedness moderates the relationship between external employability and employee perceptions of psychological mobility.
