Abstract

The observed decrease of the optic mode frequency of H with H/Pd measured by inelastic neutron scattering is employed to derive expressions for Delta Tc=TcH-TcD and for the isotope effect in the two-phase coexistence region of miscibility-gap metal-hydrogen systems. The results are expected to be of general validity for miscibility-gap metal-H systems, i.e. Delta Tc=Tcx-Tcy>0 where x and y are the light and heavy isotopes, respectively, and RTln(Py2/Px2)plat-RTln(py2/px2)r to o>0.
