Abstract

An online survey was distributed and filled by 103 Egyptian online journalists, answering questions about the interaction between their perceived workload, perceived quality of news websites, emotional responses to competitors and job satisfaction. The results revealed that both workload and perceived quality of a news website were associated with Egyptian online journalists' job satisfaction significantly. There was a significant effect of scooping competitors and getting scooped by competitors on the level of job satisfaction. The findings of this study will help publishers and website managers consider these effects whilst planning and managing their resources, to enhance their teams' productivity and competitiveness, in a market that is seeing a growing potential and importance in Egypt's media scene.
