Abstract
SummaryConjugated oestrogens (Premarin) or saline were injected intravenously into 45 women in late pregnancy, and plasma human placental lactogen (HPL) levels measured at frequent intervals for two hours thereafter. No significant changes were demonstrated in HPL levels. From these data it does not appear that oestrogens play a major role in the control of HPL secretion.
