Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of intralesional injection of triamcinolone acetonide for the treatment of children chalazion with granulation. Methods This is a retrospective study. sixty-eight cases of children chalazion with granulation were treated with intralesional injection of triamcinolone acetonide.Among the cases, 23 cases with hemispherical chalazion and 45 cases with granulational were obseroed.Surface anesthesia was made with 0.4% oxybuprocaine. Triamcinolone acetonide 0.05-0.10 ml were injected into the cyst of chalazion. Every patient visited again next week. Results Twenty-three cases with hemispherical chalazion were absorbed in 7 days without scar. 45 cases of chalazion with granulation were absorbed in 21 days after injection of two times. No obvious difference was found between age or treatment effect. There were no case recurred during 6 months following up. Conclusion Intralesional injection of triamcinolone acetonide is a safe and effective method to treat children chalazion with granulation.
