Abstract

In this paper the effect of the initial stress on the propagation of axisymmetric elastic waves in hollow orthotropic circular cylinder is investigated on the basis of the linear theory of elasticity. The equations of elastodynamic are solved using the method of power series. Furthermore, the frequency equation for the phase velocity of waves is obtained. The results indicated that the effect of orthotropy on such waves was small, while the effect of initial stress was very much pronounced.
