Abstract
Summary It has long been known chat motor paralysis inhibits nail growth, though whether the slowing is due directly to loss of nerve supply is not exactly known. In this study nail growth has been measured in a finger splinted and immobilized due to a minor tendon injury. The slowing of the rate of growth found in this fingernail supports the idea that immobilization and lack of trauma per se can inhibit nail growth.
