Abstract

1. 1. Food deprivation for 1–2 days reduced the swimming activity of Marinogammarus obtusatus only slightly; after a deprivation interval of 10–15 days the reduction in activity was significant. This decrease in activity was attributed to a deterioration in the animals' health. 2. 2. Feeding to satiety also caused a significant reduction in swimming activity. Here the effect was short term and reversible, and was interpreted as the result of inhibition.
