Abstract

This paper presents results of research into CFRPs (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymers) and FRCM (Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Matrix) confined concrete elements exposed to high temperatures. Concrete cylinder specimens were reinforced with CFRP sheets and FRCM mesh and exposed to the following temperatures: +40°C, +60°C, +80°C, over a period of 24h. Immediately after taking the specimens out of the climatic chamber they were tested until failure. Their temperature was monitored constantly prior, during and after testing by thermal imaging cameras. This paper discusses damage patterns and presents analysis of limit load capacity based on both laboratory experiments and analytical calculations. Also presented was the stress–strain relationship for elements exposed to high temperatures.
