Abstract

Abstract The effect of Copper, Cadmium and Nickel on Mycelial growth, time for sporogenesis, sporangial density, time for oogenesis and oogonial density of Achlya americana var. Cambrica Trow was studied. The concentrations used of each metal are 0.25 , 0.5 , 0.75 , 1.0 , 1.25 , 1.5 ppm. Cd delayed the appearance of sporangia but increased the sporangial density, Cu has similar effect, Ni delayed the appearance of sporangia and decreased the density of the sporangia at the same time, both of Cd and Cu shortened the time needed for oogenesis and increased the density of oogonia while Hi delayed the appearance of oogonia but poaativly effected the density of oogonia. Colony diameter dropped significantly at the presence of Cd, Hi but was not effected by the presence of Cu, the percentage of abnormal sporangia increased in the presence of Cd,Ni, & Cu.
