Abstract

Substitution of He3 for normal helium in a sealed-off conventional CO2 laser resulted in power output increases as high as 14%. No such effect was observed in a narrow-bore waveguide laser, indicating that the observed improvements were due to more efficient heat conduction to the tube wall.
