Abstract

Five replicate experiments were conducted to determine the optimum humidity for bobwhite quail eggs during incubation (Days 1 to 21: setter humidity; and Days 21 to hatching: hatcher humidity). Three wet-bulb temperatures (80, 86, and 92°F) were used during both periods. There were no interactions between humidities used during either period. Results varied considerably among experiments. Hatchability was slightly higher when humidity was above 80°F wet-bulb in both setters and hatchers. Previous recommendations of 86°F wet-bulb for setters and 92°F wet-bulb for hatchers appear to be satisfactory.
