Abstract

Large size bulk current leads of Bi-2223 system with rod and hollow cylindrical shapes were fabricated by intermediate pressing and sintering. Vickers hardness (Hv) was measured as a function of the depth from the sample surface. The high Hv region densified by the pressing near the surface was found to be correspond to that with the large critical current density (Jc). The significant decrease of the Jc was caused by the low Hv region at the center of the rod. We successfully fabricated the hollow cylindrical shape current leads with the large critical current of above 1800 A and Jc of 2000 A/cm 2
