Abstract

Timed secretion of ghrelin, leptin, soluble leptin receptor (sOB-R) and adiponectin is integral to the temporal interplay of signals that maintains energy balance, feeding and body weight. Adult growth hormone deficient (AGHD) patients known to have abnormalities of body composition, energy balance and insulin sensitivity demonstrate an abnormal leptin secretory pattern which is altered by growth hormone replacement (GHR). We studied the secretory patterns of sOB-R, adiponectin and ghrelin in AGHD, prior to and following GHR.
