Abstract

The effect of finite ion and beam ion temperature on the conditions for existence of solitary waves in a beam plasma system is investigated. It is found that a finite ion temperature drastically reduces the region in which solitary waves can exist. This work can be considered as an extension of the work done by Zhang and Kuehl [Phys. Fluids B 4, 2517 (1992)].
