Abstract

Two different qualities of PVC were used for preparation of glass bead filters. Type I, which is used in our laboratory, did not change its properties during 3 years of storage, whereas another quality (type II) did so. The change in properties is probably due to interaction between the PVC material and the glass beads, leading to coating by some unknown substance. The hypothetical substance is not soluble in saline or in PPP. The need for careful selection of PVC tubing for preparation of filters is stressed.
