Abstract

Equiatomic RuNb and RuTa alloys exhibit a shape memory effect (SME) and high transformation temperatures (>800 °C). Controlling the transformation temperatures while retaining the SME can be achieved either by changing the alloy composition or by adding a ternary element such as Fe. Eight alloys are investigated. The SME decreases with decreasing Ru content, which is in accordance with the evolution of the lattice parameters of martensite.
