Abstract

Abstract The use of supplementary materials (limestone or pozzolans) as partial replacement of Portland cement to obtain a high‐performance concrete has received considerable attention in recent years. However, these materials suffer from some shortcomings ‐ limestone filler addition causes an increase of hydration at early ages but it can reduce the later strength due to the dilution effect, fly‐ash improves the concrete strength at later ages. To eliminate this problem the method of activation of Portland cement and fillers in electrostatic‐corona field has been developed. By the optimal activation parameters the rheological properties of concrete mixtures as well as concrete strength are increased.
