Abstract
With respect to the low-energy reaction and the Gamow-Teller (GT) resonant transition, the effect of electron screening on the β-decay rate in stellar interior is investigated. The analysis on the resonant transition is based on the shell model of nuclei. In particular, the effect of electron screening on the β-decay of on the 56C r is calculated as an illustration. It is shown that the electron screening increases the β-decay rate evidently at low temperatures and high densities. This may be an important factor in the studies of the stellar late-stage evolution and supernova bursts.
