Abstract

The effect of the diffusion vertex on the electronic density of states (DOS) at the Fermi level is carefully reanalyzed in three dimensions. It results in the reduction of the DOS at the Fermi level, besides the known increase as |ε| on both the sides of the Fermi level. The DOS at the Fermi level is quantitatively evaluated. It is also shown that the electron–phonon interaction causes a logarithmic dip in the DOS at the Fermi level, but the overall effect is negligible.
