Abstract

Objective To explore whether digital slides can improve the academic record of experiment of oral histopathology courses. Methods The subjects were the 2012 grade students (38 students) and the 2013 grade students (51 students) majoring in stomatology of South Medical University. Digital microscope was used in 2012 grade, and except for digital microscope, digital slides were also used in 2013 grade. After the courses, the students received the quiz about the experimental course, and then the evaluation results of the two grades were compared for t test, using SPSS 18.0 software. Results The experiment course content test results of Grade 2012 using digital microscope was (82.10 ± 1.41) , and grade 2013 using digital microscope and digital slides was (86.07 ± 1.22) . The difference between the two groups had statistical significance (t= 2.12, P= 0.03) . Conclusions Compared with only using digital microscope in experiment, digital slides can enhance the academic grades, improve the teaching efficiency in experiment of oral histopathology courses, and elevate the teaching quality.
