SummaryA series of 162 premature babies, weighing between 1510 and 2000 g at birth, were nursed on breast milk with a small cow's milk supplement. They were divided into three groups, given 450, 2,250, and 10,000 I.U. of vitamin D daily from the 8th day of life. No difference could be found between the groups concerning weight increase and the serum concentrations of calcium, inorganic phosphorus, and alkaline phosphatase during the first month of life.
