Abstract

BackgroundWe investigated changes in bone metabolism markers over time for evaluating the effect of denosumab following administration to patients with spinal metastasis. MethodsSubjects of this study were 28 patients treated at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Aichi Medical University. ResultsAt 6 months after denosumab intervention, measured TRAP-5b values were significantly lower compared to pre-intervention values in both the osteosclerotic lesion and osteolytic lesion groups. ConclusionsThis change in bone metabolism marker values over time is one of the methods for evaluating the effect of treatment on bone tissue in cases of spinal metastasis.
