Abstract

A primary response can be described histologically in terms of a plasmacellular reaction, a follicle center reaction and a proliferation of lymphoid cells in the thymus dependent areas described by Davies (l)o Functionally the primary response is characterized by the production of antibody and the generation of memory cells, called primingo The aim of our studies was to relate the successive histological reactions to the process of primingo Essentially this was done by suppressing the different phases of the primary response by single doses of cyclophosphamide (CY) and studying the effect on the secondary response. Three requirements have to be met before the secondary response antibody titer can properly serve as parameter for the memory developed within a certain period of the primary response.KeywordsInduction PeriodMemory CellPrimary ResponseSecondary ResponseBooster InjectionThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
